The South Central Calhoun football team got off to a splendid start in their season opener, cruising past East Sac County by a final score of 48-7 on Friday, August 26, at Titan Stadium in Lake City. The Titans dominated from the opening kickoff, and saw many of its players see playing time against the Raiders.
At halftime, SCC honored longtime announcer Colin "Gus" Macke, officially christening home side's press box as the Colin "Gus" Macke Press Box.
Junior quarterback Gavin Batta torched ESC, going 13-of-21 for 308 yards and four touchdowns. Batta also ran in for a score, and also reeled in a touchdown for the winning cause. Junior wideout Keegan Soard snagged five catches for 158 yards and two trips to the endzone, and teammate Brock Nattress led SCC on the ground with 24 yards and a touchdown, while also catching two passes for 85 yards and another touchdown.
SCC improved to 1-0, and will host Pocahontas Area next Friday at Titan Stadium in Lake City.
