Cowgirls Bounce Back Against Southeastern Louisiana

UW wins 4-0

McCOMB, Miss. (March 7, 2024) – One day after losing a 4-3 battle, the Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team bounced back in their final match down in Mississippi. Wyoming scored a 4-0 win over Southeastern Louisiana to earn its second shutout win of the season.

The Cowgirls (9-6) got their second consecutive doubles win in Thursday night’s match. The Cowgirls got victories at the first and second spots. At No. 1, Violetta Borodina and Sophie Zehender secured a 7-5 win while at the No. 2 position, Jeselle Ante and Nikol Dobrilova came out on top, 6-1.

In singles, UW got the first three singles wins to clinch the victory. Zehender and Borodina both picked up straight-set victories at the No. 1 and 2 spots, respectively. Zehender won 6-3 and 6-2 while Borodina got a 6-4, 6-0 victory. Ante got the other singles win at the No. 4 spot. Ante won 6-3, 3-6 and 7-5 to take home a battle of a match.

Thursday concludes Wyoming’s non-conference slate of 2024. The Cowgirls will open Mountain West play when their next in action. Wyoming will travel to face Nevada next Friday, March 15.
